#25: From Penning Poetry to Being a Guest on a Podcast Show
Welcome to the latest issue of Being Curious — a newsletter for people who are insanely curious about the world around them.
If you’re a new reader, thanks for stopping by. Feel free to check out this introductory post, which explains what Being Curious is all about.
Being Curious is free but not cheap. I spend a few hours every week trying to put this together. If you enjoy reading it, please consider forwarding it to a friend, a family member, or a colleague. I would really appreciate it.

Hello, my Being Curious tribe!
I know I should have gotten this edition to you sooner, but this past weekend happened to be my birthday weekend. I took that as an opportunity to (mostly) stay away from screens.
But it was also an exciting day since my latest (and second) podcast interview went live on the 27th!
If you knew me 10 years ago, you would have never thought of me as someone who could be on video or be a guest on a podcast. But last year changed so many things for me.
I discovered my love for videos and podcasts. If you haven’t heard my first interview on the Gladiatrix! podcast, you can choose to listen here. It was both a nerve-wracking and exhilarating experience talking about my foray into the passion economy and discovering what I love to do for a living through a series of micro-experiments.
In my latest podcast interview with The First Times, I talk about all my firsts — first loss, the first life-changing story about female military veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, the first time I look a giant leap of faith, (not) the first time I stayed calm in a crisis, and much more.
Podcasts might be the latest new trend, but for me, they’re not a trend. Writing was always my chosen medium to express myself, and my first podcast forced me to explore a new format. It’s showed me I can express myself in multiple mediums — text, photos, audio, and video.
It can seem awkward at first, but you’ve got to remember even a podcast is just a conversation. Unlike a conversation, you can re-record a podcast as many times as you want—if you have the patience for it.
I may have started my journey with writing poetry and essays but eventually, I started dabbling in photography and videography, reporting on everything from tech and startups to music and culture, experimenting with video on LinkedIn, joining Clubhouse conversations, navigating the world of podcasts, and even doing a few YouTube interviews. I didn’t stop myself from trying new mediums. And you shouldn’t either.
It’s so much fun!
You might be strong in one medium, but it never hurts to experiment with other platforms. You might unearth a new side of yourself.
So, step out of that comfort zone — explore your multi-passionate side, and I promise you will not regret it.
If you haven’t heard my interview yet, head here.
That’s all for this week, folks!
I hope you enjoy reading each of these newsletters.
You can also find me on LinkedIn and Twitter, so you can share any thoughts or questions you may have about careers, personal growth, networking, travel and communities.
With Being Curious, I’m sharing my experiences and random musings on working abroad, career pivots, personal growth, the passion economy, networking, and more. It’s a way to keep myself accountable in sharing my tips with other people who are struggling or stuck and need that extra nudge. This is yet another interesting micro-experiment for me, and I can’t wait to see where I go with this.
Cheers,
Kritika
